Body of Missing Georgia Teacher Found in Lake a Month After Disappearance

Gary Jones, a Westminster Schools teacher, was found in 45 feet of water on Lake Oconee, a month after he disappeared during a fishing trip with his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson.
Wilson, a Spelman College instructor, was discovered floating in the lake the day after their disappearance, still clutching her cellphone.
The couple’s empty fishing boat was found circling near the lake’s dam with personal items, including Jones’ wallet and hotel key card, onboard.
Jones’ family funded the extensive search, which involved sonar, cadaver dogs, drones, and helicopters, and ultimately brought in a Wisconsin expert who located the body using advanced underwater sonar technology.
Authorities do not suspect foul play and believe the deaths were likely the result of a boating accident; autopsies will be conducted to confirm the causes of death.
