Overview
- An unoccupied kayak was found in Limeburners Bay at Corio about 1:30pm on Saturday, and emergency services were notified.
- A coordinated search involving Victoria Police, the Water Police, the Air Wing, Marine Search and Rescue and SES volunteers searched the coastal area.
- About 6:50pm on Saturday the body of a 60-year-old man from East Geelong was located in waters off Avalon Road.
- Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and they will prepare a report for the coroner.
- The coronial process in Victoria will establish the cause of death and may take time, leaving family and the local community awaiting formal findings.
