Overview

• Trevisan, 28, was climbing the eastern couloir of Gran Zebrù when a slab avalanche swept him roughly 300 meters downslope.
• His climbing partner escaped with minor impact and immediately raised the alarm for rescue teams.
• High avalanche danger limited Friday’s search to aerial reconnaissance by Alpine Rescue and Guardia di Finanza helicopters.
• Saturday’s search combined helicopter support from the Guardia di Finanza with Silandro ground crews and canine units from Brunico and Passo Rolle to locate his body beneath the snow.
• He held a degree in agricultural sciences from the University of Bolzano, conducted research across Europe, and returned to Alto Adige to pursue a PhD in mountain agriculture.
