Overview

• Authorities confirmed the body found off Route 50 in Anne Arundel County on Aug. 31 is 19-year-old Dacara Thompson of Prince George's County.
• Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, 35, of Bowie, has been arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
• Newly obtained video shows Thompson entering an SUV early on Aug. 23 before it traveled to a home in the 12000 block of Kembridge Drive in Bowie.
• Detectives searched that residence on Sept. 4 and found bedroom evidence indicating Thompson was killed there, though her cause of death is still undetermined.
• Thompson’s car was recovered in Hyattsville with her purse inside, while her phone and keys were missing; investigators are probing whether she knew the suspect and urge tips to 301-516-2512.
