- Leicestershire Police said a body recovered from the River Soar on December 14 is believed to be 20-year-old Aryan Sharma, though confirmation is pending.
- Officers from the Tactical Support Team and the National Police Air Service located the body after a report of a sighting at Normanton on Soar.
- Sharma, a Loughborough University robotics student, left his accommodation around 9:30pm and was last seen on CCTV on Meadow Lane at about 12:30am on November 22.
- The search deployed extensive resources including police divers, dogs, a drone, NPAS support and Leicestershire Search and Rescue volunteers, with reviews of CCTV and phone data.
- Specialist officers are supporting Sharma’s family, who have requested privacy, and police will prepare a file for HM Coroner.
