Overview

• Emergency services were called just before 3am, with police notified at 2:50am by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
• Several vehicles were burned before firefighters extinguished the blaze on the coastal road behind Coney Beach.
• A deceased person was discovered inside one vehicle after the fire was put out, and formal identification has not yet taken place.
• A police cordon remains from Bungalow Avenue to the seafront, and pedestrians cannot cross between the Hi Tide complex and Coney Beach.
• South Wales Police are conducting inquiries into the circumstances and cause, with forensic teams working at the scene through Thursday.
