Bodoland Completes Land Record Digitisation, Rolls Out e-Office in First for Sixth Schedule Councils

The rollout draws praise from the Centre, with services moving to kiosks, apps, portals to speed up approvals.

Overview

  • Officials say more than 15 lakh pattas, revenue records and maps are now digitised and accessible via public kiosks, mobile applications and web portals.
  • The new e-Office platform replaces manual file movement, enabling real-time file tracking, online approvals and paperless decision-making.
  • Digitisation began in 2023 with ground surveys across Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur and Udalguri, with GIS mapping used to verify boundaries.
  • Mission Basumoti/Bwiswmuthi disposed of over 2.11 lakh applications in its first phase, with the new phase launched by Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya drawing nearly 24,000 applications and extending benefits to small tea growers.
  • Officials acknowledge internet and digital-literacy gaps, prompting village training and new kiosks, as the Government of India and the IT Ministry voice support for scaling the model.
