Bodies of Two Alpinists Recovered from Monviso’s Coolidge Channel

Their remains were transported to the Saluzzo hospital mortuary.

  • Search teams including Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Piemontese and the Regional Elisoccorso service combed bivouacs and the northern face by ground and air.
  • An aerial survey conducted on June 11 spotted the bodies in the Coolidge channel, where they are believed to have fallen during the ascent.
  • Fire brigade helicopters carried out the recovery following magistrate instructions and flew the bodies to Saluzzo hospital’s mortuary.
