Overview
- The bodies of 28-year-old Johnny Collins III, 10-year-old Skyler Worthen and 7-year-old Summer McRae were recovered from the Ocmulgee River on July 16 after search crews resumed operations at dawn.
- The daughters drifted into deep water on July 15 at Amerson River Park and their father entered the river to rescue them, but none resurfaced.
- Multi-agency teams from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Georgia State Patrol used boats, dive teams, sonar and a helicopter in the search.
- Operations paused at nightfall on July 15 due to darkness and resumed at 8 a.m. the following day.
- The park, which has recorded at least 14 drownings since opening in 2009, will reopen on July 17 pending safety assessments.
