Overview
- Boca Juniors have removed Marcelo Saracchi from first-team training over the weekend, a move Argentine outlets say is intended to push him out of the squad and force a transfer.
- Celtic have held preliminary discussions with Saracchi’s camp and are reported to be preparing formal talks with Boca about a permanent deal.
- The loan included a reported €2.5 million purchase option that Celtic did not trigger, and Argentine and UK reports place Boca’s asking price at roughly £2 million.
- Saracchi, who wants a return to Celtic but wants assurances about his role, also has interest from Turkey and MLS clubs, making the situation time-sensitive for all parties.
- The 28-year-old made 27 appearances during his season at Celtic with 10 starts, won over fans with key substitute moments, and Boca’s push to sell is driven partly by a need to free a foreign-player spot.
