- Sherman succumbed to stage 4 cancer on June 24 at age 81 after his diagnosis was made public in March.

- After retiring from entertainment, he became an EMT, trained paramedics at the LAPD academy and served as a reserve deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County.
- He is survived by his wife, Brigitte Poublon, sons Tyler and Christopher, and six grandchildren, and co-founded the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation to support education and music programs in Ghana.
