Bobby Petrino, former head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, is returning to the university as its new offensive coordinator.
Petrino was fired as head coach in 2012 after a scandal involving an extramarital affair with a female staffer he hired for the football program.
Since his dismissal, Petrino has held head coaching positions at Western Kentucky, Louisville, and Missouri State, and was the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M in 2023.
Petrino's return to Arkansas is seen as a chance for him to make amends and help improve the Razorbacks' performance, following a disappointing 4-8 season in 2023.
The hiring of Petrino is expected to require presidential approval, due to a school policy stating that an employee who has been dismissed for cause shall not be eligible for reemployment.
