Bob Odenkirk Discovers Royal Ancestry on 'Finding Your Roots'

Actor Learns He's 11th Cousin to King Charles III Through Ancestral Ties to Duke of Plön

Bob Odenkirk, the star of 'Better Call Saul', discovered he is the 11th cousin of King Charles III on the PBS show 'Finding Your Roots'.
The connection was traced back to Odenkirk's fifth great-grandfather, Friedrich Carl Steinholz, who was born out of wedlock to the Duke of Plön in Germany in 1755.
The Duke of Plön was related to the royal families of Europe through intermarriage, linking Odenkirk to the British monarchy.
Upon learning of his royal ties, Odenkirk, who had previously expressed his belief in democracy over monarchy, laughed and jokingly said he might change his mind.
The episode of 'Finding Your Roots' featuring Odenkirk's surprising revelation is set to air on January 30.
