- The University of the Pacific announced that Bob Lee died on Aug. 17, 2026, in San Francisco and did not disclose a cause of death.
- Lee spent 12 NFL seasons from 1969 to 1980 as a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and Los Angeles Rams and was part of the Vikings’ 1969 championship team.
- His most notable playing stretch came in 1973 when he replaced Dick Shiner for the Falcons and went 8-2 as a starter, helping the team to a then-franchise-best 9-5 record.
- Career totals list 77 regular-season games, 30 starts, 5,034 passing yards, about 30 touchdowns and 40 interceptions, and a 19-11 record as a starter.
- After retiring, Lee served as Pacific’s athletic director from 1991–1996 and is credited with expanding several campus athletic facilities; he is survived by his wife Janice, three children, and six grandchildren.
