Bob Dylan has publicly defended Jann Wenner, co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine, who was removed from the board of directors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation after making comments that were perceived as sexist and racist.
Dylan made the remarks during a concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, stating that he and others are trying to get Wenner reinstated.
Wenner's controversial comments were made during an interview with The New York Times to promote his new book, The Masters, which features interviews exclusively with white male artists.
In response to questions about the lack of diversity in his book, Wenner said that female and Black artists were not 'articulate enough on this intellectual level' to be included.
Wenner later apologized for his comments, and Rolling Stone magazine issued a statement distancing itself from its co-founder.
