Overview
- BNB Chain will activate the Pasteur hard fork on BSC mainnet at 02:30 UTC on August 25, 2026 and it requires node operators to install client v1.7.7 and remove the EnableBAL setting before the activation window.
- Pasteur bundles three linked proposals under BEP-673 that change validator and cross-chain rules and block processing.
- BEP-682 prevents a single validator from being counted more than once in cross-chain signature sets so transfers must show approval from distinct validators.
- BEP-695 makes rotated validator keys lose admin rights immediately and ensures pending slashes or evictions follow a validator through key rotation while blocking blacklisted addresses from signature-based votes.
- BEP-675 lets block builders send pre‑executed blocks so validators can approve then verify them, QANet tests raised throughput from about 1,237 TPS to 2,324 TPS, and BNB Chain warns those gains are from a controlled test; builders who use BEP-675 must run fullnodes and the feature will be enabled separately after builders integrate.
