BMW Z4 to End Production in Early 2026 With Limited ‘Final Edition’

Buyers face a brief, fixed-spec run featuring an optional six-speed manual with dedicated chassis tuning.

Overview

  • Order books open in late January 2026, with very small-batch production at Magna Steyr from February to March in Europe and through April for the U.S., and allocation totals not disclosed.
  • The U.S. gets a fully loaded M40i-only Final Edition priced at $78,675 including destination, with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
  • Manual-equipped cars receive the Handschalter chassis package, adding auxiliary springs, a reinforced front anti-roll bar clamp, retuned dampers and variable sport steering, and updated traction and differential software.
  • European markets can apply the Final Edition treatment to sDrive20i, sDrive30i, and M40i, with region-specific pricing (e.g., €4,200 on 30i/M40i in Germany; €7,400 on 20i due to the required M Sport package) and the option to choose standard palette colors.
  • All Final Editions feature BMW Individual Frozen/Frozen Matt Black availability, Shadowline exterior trim, red M Sport calipers, staggered 19/20-inch wheels, and a Vernasca leather/Alcantara interior with red stitching and ‘Final Edition’ sill plates, and BMW says no direct successor is planned.
