- This week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed BMW M chief Frank van Meel confirmed the battery-electric model will be badged simply “M3” and will be offered alongside a visually similar internal-combustion M3.
- BMW says the electric M3 will ride on its Neue Klasse architecture and is expected to use a four-motor layout, though the company has not published final power, range, or technical figures.
- Industry reporting notes the Neue Klasse quad-motor architecture can theoretically support very large outputs but media estimates for the production M3 range widely from roughly 650 horsepower up to more than 1,000 horsepower.
