BMW M Motorsport Confirms Long-Term Hypercar Program and Ends RLL Partnership

The German marque is set to appoint a new IMSA partner to operate its prototype effort following the conclusion of its 17-year RLL contract.

BMW M Motorsport has secured a long-term commitment to the Hypercar category in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA’s GTP class.
The alliance with BMW M Team RLL will conclude at the end of the 2025 IMSA season, though discussions on other collaboration avenues are ongoing.
Team WRT, which currently runs BMW’s factory Hypercar entry in the WEC, is expected to take over operations of the M Hybrid V8 in the U.S. series.
In its debut GTP season, the BMW M Hybrid V8 achieved five podium finishes and a win at the Six Hours of Watkins Glen.
An extended homologation period will underpin BMW’s shift from GT racing to top-tier LMDh competition and ensure technical stability.
