Overview
- Mohammed Ibrahim was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to 13 years and three months in prison plus an 18-year-nine-month driving ban for two counts of causing death and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
- Prosecutors detailed how Ibrahim reached speeds of 80–84 mph in a 30 mph zone during an illegal race before colliding first with a quad bike that ran a red light and then crashing head-on into an MG carrying four generations of a family.
- Amanda Riley, 49, and Linda Philips, 72, died at the scene despite rescue efforts, while four other relatives suffered serious injuries including a fractured sternum and a broken leg.
- After the December 2023 crash Ibrahim fled the scene, was caught on CCTV at Heartlands Hospital for a leg injury, returned, and refused a breath test before his arrest.
- West Midlands Police continue to hunt the untraced BMW X3 driver and the quad bike rider, both of whom left the scene and remain at large.
