BMW Driver Arrested in Delhi Crash That Killed Finance Ministry Official

Police are investigating why the injured couple were taken about 19 km to a GTB Nagar facility reportedly linked to the accused.

  • Navjot Singh, a deputy secretary in the Finance Ministry, died and his wife Sandeep Kaur was seriously injured after their motorcycle was hit near the Delhi Cantonment metro station.
  • Gaganpreet, identified by police as the BMW driver, was taken into custody on Monday after hospital discharge, while her husband Parikshit was a passenger and also injured.
  • An FIR under BNS Sections 105, 281, 125B and 238 cites culpable homicide, rash driving, endangering life and alleged destruction or concealment of evidence.
  • Kaur’s statement says she begged to be taken to the nearest hospital, but the couple were transported to a GTB Nagar facility; the van driver says he drove there at the request of those from the BMW.
  • Police seized the BMW and the motorcycle, called in FSL and crime teams to examine the site, and are reviewing CCTV and videos showing the car overturned and the victims on the road.
