BMTC Bus Gutted in Fire at HAL Bus Stop in Bengaluru, Passengers Evacuated Safely

A technical probe by BMTC is underway under HAL police oversight.

  • Police said the blaze began in the engine around 5:10 a.m. as the bus reached the HAL bus stop in east Bengaluru.
  • About 60 passengers were on board and all were transferred to another bus without injuries.
  • Driver Jayachandra and conductor Chowdappa led the evacuation before emergency crews arrived.
  • Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the flames, but the Depot-51 vehicle (KA 57 F 4568) was completely destroyed.
  • A team led by BMTC’s Chief Mechanical Engineer started an on-site investigation, and the corporation pledged technical steps to prevent a recurrence.
