Overview

  • BMRCL has shifted its commissioning target for the 19.15 km driverless Yellow Line to August 15, pending an Independent Safety Assessment report expected by July 7–8 and a mid-July CMRS inspection.
  • Initial service will run with just three trains making stops at five to six stations and operating at 20–25 minute headways until more trains arrive.
  • Titagarh Rail Systems is scheduled to deliver two additional trains each month starting in August to bolster the line’s capacity.
  • Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya organized a protest march on July 5 demanding accountability from BMRCL and the public release of the fare fixation committee’s recommendations.
  • Commuters around the Silk Board Junction in Bengaluru’s IT corridor have faced chronic congestion that the Yellow Line is designed to relieve.
