BMRCL Issues DPR Tender for 59.6-Km BengaluruTumakuru Green Line Extension

The bid process advances the project into the DPR stage to test the case for an inter-city metro under a PPP structure.

Overview

  • The tender seeks a consultant to prepare the DPR for a 59.6 km corridor from Madavara (BIEC) to Tumakuru via Nelamangala, Dabaspet and Kyathasandra with roughly 25 elevated stations.
  • BMRCL set a bid opening for 21 November after issuing the notice on 15 November, and the tender specifies an earnest money deposit of ₹4.5 lakh.
  • The Karnataka government has accepted the feasibility study, which anticipates demand of about 15,000 passengers per hour per direction on the route.
  • Funding is being pursued through public–private models, with options such as BOT and DBFOT under evaluation for an outlay of around ₹20,000 crore.
  • The DPR must include an Alternative Analysis comparing modes and detail systems, integration and TOD, as some experts suggest suburban rail or RRTS could better fit the corridor.
