BMG Restructures North American Leadership, Doubles Down on US Market
Promotions for Jon Loba and Thomas Scherer part of strategy to capitalize on success of North American operations.
- BMG has promoted Jon Loba, previously the president of BMG Nashville, to the position of president of Frontline Recordings, North America, putting him in charge of BMG's entire North American frontline records business.
- Thomas Scherer, who was previously in charge of BMG's publishing and recordings in Los Angeles and New York, has been named head of global recorded catalog, while also retaining his North American responsibilities for publishing.
- BMG's North American operations now account for over 50% of the label's revenue, largely due to the success of acts like Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Blanco Brown, Parmalee, Lainey Wilson, and Jelly Roll.
- BMG has recently announced direct deals with Spotify and Apple Music, and is developing a new physical recorded music distribution deal with Universal Music Group.
- BMG's restructuring and increased focus on the US market is part of a new strategy announced by CEO Thomas Coesfeld in October 2023.
