BMC to Start Goregaon–Oshiwara Cable-Stayed Bridge Work in Early November

Court clearance follows a fewer‑pier design chosen to limit mangrove impact.

Overview

  • The Rs 418‑crore project will create a new north–south link across Goregaon Creek to ease pressure on S V Road and Link Road.
  • The bridge is 542 metres long with a 238‑metre cable‑stayed span, 28.55 metres in width, six lanes, a 0.45‑metre median, and 1.5‑metre utility corridors on each side.
  • Construction carries a 36‑month schedule excluding monsoon months with completion targeted for October 2028.
  • Work notices for activity in the mangrove zone were issued earlier in October following Bombay High Court approval in May.
  • BMC also invited bids for an Rs 805‑crore cable‑stayed flyover linking Byculla’s Y‑Bridge to the JJ Flyover, signaling a broader push for similar structures.
