Overview
- On the night of July 30–31, The Gaurav Caterers was caught dumping leftover food near the Mithi River in Sakinaka and fined ₹10,000 by the BMC’s L Ward team.
- The waste was traced back to the caterers’ Khar premises and penalized under the Brihanmumbai Cleanliness and Health Subordinate Regulations, 2006.
- Since June 12, special ward-level squads have imposed a total of ₹75,000 in fines on eight bulk waste generators, including banks, housing societies and an Imtiaz Line Depot.
- The intensified enforcement targets unauthorized nighttime dumping of food and construction waste to keep drains clear during Mumbai’s monsoon season.
