Overview
- A junior border guard stopped a Zimbabwe-registered Siyaya minibus at about 12:30pm on 13 January at the Beitbridge Port of Entry.
- Officials found 33 undocumented children aged four to 15 who were traveling from South Africa to Zimbabwe.
- Two Zimbabwean men, aged 32 and 23, were arrested on allegations of facilitating illegal movement, with criminal cases opened under the Immigration Act.
- All children were handed to the Department of Social Development for processing and care in line with child-protection protocols.
- The BMA said this was the second such stop in less than a week, credited the guard’s vigilance, warned parents against sending undocumented children, and noted investigations continue with court appearances expected this week.
