Bluesky, the decentralized social media app, has reached 2 million users, doubling its user base since September.
The company plans to launch a public web interface by the end of November, allowing anyone to view posts on Bluesky without needing an account.
Bluesky is set to become a federated network early next year, allowing users to move their accounts between different servers at will, a feature the company refers to as being 'billionaire-proof'.
Despite still being in its invite-only phase, Bluesky has seen record sign-ups in response to changes at rival platform X, such as the introduction of a small monthly payment.
Bluesky was conceptualized by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and is built on the AT Protocol, an open source framework developed in-house.
