Blue-Sticker Vehicle Ban Returns in Mexico City and Edomex on August 1

The program resumed today under its regular schedule after July’s green-sticker restrictions, with air quality still below contingency thresholds.

Intensas lluvias azotaron toda la capital, lo que provocó inundaciones en vialidades primarias.

Overview

  • Vehicles with blue stickers, plate endings 9 and 0, and holograms 1 and 2 are barred from circulation between 05:00 and 22:00 across all 16 CDMX alcaldías and 40 Estado de México municipalities.
  • Exemptions remain in place for vehicles with holograms 00 or 0, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, taxis, public and freight transport, and authorized health-worker vehicles.
  • Drivers who flout the ban face fines ranging from 2,074.80 to 3,112.20 pesos under the CDMX Traffic Regulations and risk vehicle impoundment.
  • The restriction follows the July 1 harmonized expansion that aligned Hoy No Circula schedules across Mexico City and neighboring Estado de México jurisdictions.
  • Hoy No Circula is operating under normal conditions without activating Doble Hoy No Circula or contingency measures, as monitored air quality remains acceptable.
