Blue Bombers Posthumously Induct Tyrone Jones into Ring of Honour

  • Jones will become the 17th member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ Ring of Honour on Sept. 6 during the Banjo Bowl matchup against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
  • He holds the franchise record with 98 career sacks and set team marks with four Grey Cup sacks in 1984 and 20.5 regular-season sacks in 1985.
  • He earned Grey Cup MVP honours in 1984 and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 1985.
  • He was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
  • Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller praised him as an exceptional defender and vocal leader whose influence defined the team’s success.
