  • Arkham Intelligence publicly disclosed on August 2 that 127,426 BTC were stolen from LuBian Mining Pool between December 28 and 30, 2020.
  • Those coins, worth $3.5 billion at the time, have since appreciated to approximately $14.5 billion, making it the largest bitcoin theft on record.
  • LuBian secured its remaining 11,886 BTC by transferring them into recovery wallets on December 31, 2020.
  • The pool’s operators used over 1,500 OP_RETURN transactions, spending 1.4 BTC to message the hacker and request the return of funds.
  • Arkham’s wallet trackers show the hacker’s consolidated balance remains untouched, ranking them as the 13th-largest bitcoin holder.
