Blizzard has announced that the first expansion for Diablo IV, named 'Vessel of Hatred,' is set to release in late 2024 and will revisit the Nahantu jungle from Diablo II.
The expansion will focus on the storyline of the villain Mephisto, elaborating his evil plans for Sanctuary.
A new character class, speculated to be a nature-based warrior and potentially named 'Spiritborn,' is to be introduced, which might play like a druid-barbarian hybrid, offering new ways to play and new evils to vanquish.
The developers at Blizzard also gave a sneak peek at Diablo IV's third season, featuring a new kind of challenge dungeon called 'The Gauntlet,' and a seasonal event named 'Midwinter Blight' starting on December 12 and lasting for three weeks.
Diablo IV is evolving into more of a live service game, similar to World of Warcraft, with annual expansions planned and more frequent patches and updates.
