Blizzard Sets Oct. 1 Deep Dive, Oct. 2 Alpha for World of Warcraft: Midnight

Blizzard is previewing key systems through a five‑phase, invite‑only test to gather feedback before the 2026 release.

Overview

  • Creative Director Chris Metzen and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas will lead a gameplay deep dive on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. PT on WoW’s Twitch and YouTube, followed by a live developer Q&A.
  • The closed alpha begins Oct. 2 with invitations sent to selected players, friends and family, community veterans, fan sites, press, and content creators.
  • Testing will roll out weekly across five phases, delivering content incrementally rather than all at once.
  • Phase 1 features player housing, the Eversong Woods zone, the Devourer Demon Hunter spec, Windrunner Spire and Murder Row dungeons, multiple delves, and the Valeera Sanguinar delve companion.
  • Phase 5 consolidates prior content and adds level 90 activities including the Prey system and new profession Sparks, with Blizzard urging invitees to verify access via a Midnight Alpha license in Battle.net to avoid phishing.
