Blizzard Announces Three New Overwatch 2 Heroes Including Nonbinary Character Venture and Tank Mauga Set to Debut Next Month

First Non-Binary Character, Venture, Wields Underground Drill and Set to Debut in April 2024, Canadian Archeologist Joins Ranks with Martian Support Hero and Dual-Wielding Tank Mauga.

  • Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled three new heroes for Overwatch 2 - Mauga, Venture, and a support hero currently codenamed Space Ranger. Mauga, the dual-wielding tank hero, is set to debut in Overwatch 2's Season 8 launch on December 5th.
  • Mauga, equipped with two chain guns, Gunny and Cha-Cha, was playable for free in a limited-time trial run and is designed to break through enemy front lines with immense firepower.
  • Venture, set to debut in April 2024, is the game’s first nonbinary character. Described as a 'swashbuckling archeologist', Venture uses a unique drill weapon that lets them burrow underground where they’re invulnerable, allowing them to attack opponents from below.
  • Venture's drill also fires an explosive projectile and powers their dash move. Their ultimate ability remains undisclosed and will only be revealed in season 10 which starts around April 2024.
  • Third new hero, currently codenamed Space Ranger, is an upcoming support character hailing from the Mars colony. Described as a 'highly mobile support hero', their kit offers a lot of vertical mobility due to the numerous thrusters on their suit and boots. Their debut date has not been specified yet.
