Overview
- Corrections officers conducting routine checks around 11:15–11:20 p.m. on Dec. 26 found an inmate unresponsive in a Clark County Detention Center cell with apparent blunt-force injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
- LVMPD says detectives determined a physical altercation occurred inside the cell and rebooked Chad Ollinger, 41, on an open murder charge; he is being held without bond.
- The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Christopher Kelly, 42, with cause and manner of death still under review.
- Jail and court records show Ollinger had been in custody since Oct. 27 on an out-of-state warrant and contempt of court, was sentenced Dec. 18, and had a Jan. 12, 2026 release date before the new booking.
