BlendJet Recalls 4.8 Million Blenders Over Safety Concerns

Company offers free replacements after reports of broken blades, overheating and fires

  • BlendJet Inc. is recalling about 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders due to laceration and fire hazards.
  • The company has received 329 reports of the blender’s blades breaking while in use, 17 reports of overheating or fires resulting in about $150,000 in property damage claims, 49 reports of minor burn injuries and one laceration injury.
  • The recalled blenders were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target and other retailers nationwide as well as online from October 2020 through November 2023.
  • BlendJet is offering a free base unit replacement for the recalled blenders. Consumers will need to remove and cut up the base’s rubber seal and email or upload a photo to the company's website to receive the replacement.
  • BlendJet 2 blenders with serial numbers that begin with numbers “5543” or higher are not under recall, as they have updated components.
