The left-hander was 14-9 with a 2.25 ERA last year for the San Diego Padres, earning him the National League Cy Young Award.
Nick Avila, a right-hander, has been added to the Giants' bullpen after an impressive season at Triple-A Sacramento.
Avila will be the fifth player to make his Major League debut with the Giants this year, joining others like Jung Hoo Lee and Kai-Wei Teng.
