BlackRock’s IBIT Drives Three-Day Bitcoin ETF Inflows That Partially Reverse Late‑October Withdrawals

Concentrated buying by a single issuer has pushed short-term ETF inflows while thin buy-side liquidity and ETF holders’ cost basis leave prices vulnerable to shifts in flows.

Overview

  • U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $110.3 million, $176 million and $137.3 million over three trading days, for a $423.6 million total that partly offset large withdrawals from Oct. 22–23.
  • BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust accounted for roughly 94% of the three-day intake, with on‑chain trackers reporting IBIT accumulation of about 3,441 BTC in a 24‑hour slice during the window.
  • Despite the late‑October buying, the 30‑day view through Oct. 26 still showed about $254.7 million in net outflows for U.S. Bitcoin ETFs even as IBIT drew nearly $962 million over that same month-long span.
  • Spot Ethereum ETFs moved in the opposite direction with multi‑day withdrawals that totaled roughly $170.2 million across the same three trading sessions, leaving ether funds under selling pressure.
  • The SEC’s July 2025 approval of in‑kind creations and redemptions means ETF share moves can require actual token transfers, so concentrated flows into or out of a few large funds can quickly drain exchange inventories and push prices.
