Overview

  • The Grand National reopened on June 27 after months-long maintenance that replaced wooden track sections, installed a new drive sprocket and pull-up chain components, and refreshed its paintwork.
  • Compliance with its Grade II listing, granted in 2017, required specialist engineers and extended work timelines.
  • Designed by Charles Paige in 1935, the wooden coaster is Europe’s only twin-track racing ride celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
  • Pleasure Beach will operate the coaster daily through September and on selected weekends and weekdays until November, featuring a late-night ride and fireworks event on July 5.
  • Blackpool drew a record 21.5 million visitors in 2023 and Pleasure Beach is exploring new attractions, including a proposed Starflyer and log flume pending approval.
