Overview
- Officers found items of concern at a Gloucester Avenue home around 11:30am on December 31 and arrested a teenager on suspicion of Explosives Act offences.
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams made the scene safe and removed a number of suspected modified commercial fireworks described as improvised and potentially dangerous.
- A cordon was put in place and nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution, with residents later allowed to return once specialists cleared the address.
- Lancashire Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service, Blackpool Council, the Red Cross and other partners supported the police-led response.
- Chief Insp Martin Wyatt thanked residents for their cooperation and said public safety guided decisions throughout the operation.
