Blackhawks Assign Prospects Korchinski and Nazar to AHL

Chicago sends Kevin Korchinski and Frank Nazar to the minors to further develop their skills before joining the NHL roster.

Korchinski and Nazar, both 20, were sent to the Rockford IceHogs to start the 2024-25 season.
Korchinski, a 2022 seventh-overall pick, struggled in the preseason and last season, prompting the move.
Nazar, also a 2022 first-round pick, will benefit from more ice time as Rockford's first-line center.
The Blackhawks' decision reflects their strategy to allow young players to develop confidence in the AHL.
The roster cuts reduce Chicago's camp roster to 28 players, with the season opener against Utah on October 8.
