Black Student Facing Discipline Over Dreadlocks Transferred To Alternative School Amid Discrimination Allegations

Black high school student Darryl George has been suspended since August over his dreadlocks hairstyle.
George was transferred on October 12 from his high school in Texas to a disciplinary alternative education program.
The school says George violated dress code rules prohibiting hair below certain lengths for male students.
George's family filed a complaint and lawsuit alleging hair discrimination banned under Texas' CROWN Act.
The school district also filed a lawsuit seeking clarity on whether their dress code violates the CROWN Act.
