Black Faith Leaders Pressure Biden for Gaza Cease-Fire

Over 1,000 pastors warn that Biden's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict could cost him Black votes in the upcoming election.

More than 1,000 Black faith leaders are pressuring President Biden to call for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, expressing concern that his stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict could cost him Black votes.
The faith leaders have taken out a full-page advertisement in the New York Times, held meetings with White House officials, and written open letters to make their case.
Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale, leader of Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Georgia, stated that members of her congregation and others across the nation have begun to say they will not vote for Biden.
Rev. Timothy McDonald, senior pastor of First Iconium Baptist Church in Atlanta, echoed this sentiment, stating it will be very hard to persuade their congregations to vote for Biden.
Despite this, former Speaker of the House U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dismissed the call for a cease-fire as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message, and suggested that the protests are connected to Russia.
