Overview

  • On June 24–25, AAIB-led teams with U.S. NTSB support successfully extracted and downloaded data from both cockpit voice and flight data recorders at the AAIB laboratory in Delhi.
  • Investigators are using CVR and FDR analysis to reconstruct the seconds-long sequence of events that led flight AI-171 to lose engine power shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad.
  • Multiple sabotage angles remain under active examination, including fuel chain tampering, maintenance log irregularities, cyber-physical manipulation and airport security breaches.
  • The probe, overseen by AAIB Director General G.V.G. Yugandhar and Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol, has also reviewed CCTV footage and personnel records for evidence of deliberate interference.
  • A preliminary interim report is due within three months as regulators continue thorough safety inspections of Air India’s entire Boeing 787 fleet.
