Overview
- The BJP–Shiv Sena (Shinde) alliance crossed the majority in the 227-member BMC with 120 seats, ending decades of Thackeray influence over Mumbai’s civic body.
- News18 reported the BJP won 93 BMC seats and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena 27, while the Shiv Sena (UBT)-led bloc took 73 and the MNS 10 as both NCP factions failed to open their account.
- Statewide, the BJP emerged as the single largest party and, with allies, will govern most corporations, with News18 listing winners as BJP 21 municipalities, Shiv Sena 2, Congress 3, BVA 1 and Shiv Sena (UBT) 1.
