Overview
- BitMine said Monday it bought 8,573 ETH, bringing its total to 6,060,506 ETH, roughly 4.9% of circulating supply and about 99% of the company’s stated 5% target.
- The company has 5,227,037 ETH staked through its MAVAN validator network, which represents about 86% of its holdings and under current assumptions could generate roughly $358 million in annual staking revenue.
- BitMine values combined crypto, cash, marketable securities and equity stakes at about $14.5 billion, including 216 BTC and $498 million in cash, leaving shareholders sensitive to large ETH price swings because much of the position is unrealized on paper.
- Hitting the roughly 6.11 million ETH 5% threshold would end BitMine’s weekly buys, removing a steady, price-insensitive source of demand and forcing markets to absorb future flows through staking rewards, ETF activity, and other liquidity providers.
- The FBI attributed the Oct. 29 Binance breach to North Korea and ETH fell only about 4%, a move BitMine’s chairman called evidence of growing market resilience, but the firm’s heavy staking concentration raises operational risks such as validator downtime or slashing that could hit revenue and liquidity.
