BitMine Names Chi Tsang CEO, Adds Three Independent Directors in Ethereum Push

BitMine says the leadership changes position the NYSE American–listed firm to scale an institutionally backed push toward a 5% share of ether.

Overview

  • Chi Tsang replaces Jonathan Bates as chief executive and joins the board, with the transition effective immediately.
  • Robert Sechan of NewEdge Wealth, Olivia Howe of RigUp, and Jason Edgeworth of JPD Family Holdings are appointed as independent directors.
  • The company reports controlling more than 2.9% of the Ethereum network and describes itself as the largest ETH treasury operation.
  • BitMine reiterates a long-term target to acquire 5% of ETH, a goal it says is supported by backers including ARK’s Cathie Wood, Founders Fund, Bill Miller III, Pantera, Kraken, DCG, and Galaxy Digital.
  • Chairman Tom Lee frames the strategy as bridging traditional capital markets with the Ethereum ecosystem to build an institutional financial platform.
