Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs Post $713 Million One-Day Outflow

A risk-off swing tied to geopolitical jitters interrupted a week that had already logged $2.17 billion in inflows.

Overview

  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $483 million in Tuesday net outflows, while Ethereum ETFs saw roughly $230 million withdrawn, according to fund-level trackers.
  • Grayscale’s GBTC led Bitcoin redemptions at about $160.8 million, with Fidelity’s FBTC close behind at roughly $152 million, while BlackRock’s ETHA topped Ethereum outflows at about $92.3 million.
  • Despite the reversal, CoinShares reported $2.17 billion of inflows for the week ending Jan. 16, the largest weekly total since October 2025, with Bitcoin taking $1.55 billion and Ethereum $496 million.
  • Flow shifts were linked by multiple reports to geopolitical and policy uncertainty, including tensions over Greenland and tariff threats, with some investors rotating toward traditional safe havens.
  • Selectivity emerged within crypto ETPs as Solana funds drew about $3.08 million in daily inflows and XRP products logged $69.5 million for the week, even as bitcoin fell below $89,000 and ether slipped under $3,000.
