Overview

• Bitchat builds a decentralized peer-to-peer network over Bluetooth Low Energy mesh, enabling messaging without internet, servers or user accounts.
• Messages are end-to-end encrypted and ephemeral by default, and no phone numbers, emails or personal identifiers are required.
• Users can join or create password-protected group chats called “rooms,” mention individuals and mark favorites for indefinite message retention.
• A store-and-forward relay system lets devices hop messages through nearby phones to extend communication well beyond 30-meter Bluetooth range.
• A future update will introduce Wi-Fi Direct support for richer media sharing and broader network coverage.
